Burger King Japan launches Tom Yum Shrimp Whopper
Burger King Japan is experimenting with Thai flavors with its newest menu item: the Tom Yum Shrimp Whopper.
The inspiration behind it: The limited-edition burger, which was launched on Friday, was inspired by tom yum kung, a hot and sour soup from Thailand.
What’s in it: The Tom Yum Shrimp Whopper includes a beef patty, garlic shrimp, tomato, onions and lettuce. Meanwhile, its “Special Tom Yum Sauce” consists of lemongrass, fish sauce, kaffir lime leaves, gochujang, cilantro and bean sauce.
Cost: The Tom Yum Shrimp Whopper Jr. costs 590 yen (approximately $4.14), while the regular Tom Yum Shrimp Whopper costs 940 yen (approximately $6.60). The Double Tom Yum Shrimp Whopper, which includes two beef patties, costs 1,290 yen (approximately $9).
Other burgers: This is not the first time Burger King Japan has launched a special limited-time burger. In the past, the fast-food chain has sold “Spy x Family”-inspired peanut butter burgers and the infamous Ice Whopper, among other sandwiches.
