Burger King Thailand introduces ‘real cheeseburger’ with 20 cheese slices, no meat
Fast-food chain Burger King has added a burger with 20 slices of cheese and no meat to its menu in Thailand.
About the burger: On Sunday, Burger King Thailand introduced its new menu item “The Real Cheeseburger.” The sandwich notably features 20 sheets of American cheese.
“The real one, real cheese, full of flavor for those who love cheese,” Burger King Thailand states on its website.
The burger without any meat, toppings and sauce can be purchased for 109 Thai baht (approximately $3.13), which is less than the price of Burger King Thailand’s regular beef cheeseburger priced at 129 baht (approximately $3.71). It is available until Aug. 20.
Customer reactions: The cheeseburger immediately went viral on social media, with many customers in Thailand flocking to Burger King to try the new sandwich. According to one branch in Bangkok, it reportedly had to stop deliveries to save stock for walk-in diners.
While some netizens were happy with the price of the burger, many said the cheese was “too much.” On Twitter, a self-proclaimed cheese lover who noted a trend in Thailand is “to put cheese on literally everything” shared that he struggled to eat “even half” of the cheeseburger.
Other netizens also pointed out the high fat and dairy content in the cheese that may have them calling for a doctor’s appointment the next day.
“Order a burger plus a hospital package?” one Facebook user joked.
“Cholesterol lowering pills must come, haha,” another user wrote.
