‘Squid Game’ Season 2: T.O.P, Jo Yu-ri, Park Gyu-young among 8 newest cast members
Netflix has finalized the cast for the second season of its hit series “Squid Game.”
The final eight: The newest additions to the show’s ensemble cast include veteran actor Kang Ae-shim, former Bigbang group member T.O.P, “Sweet Home” stars Park Gyu-young and Lee Jin-uk, K-pop soloist Jo Yu-ri, “D.P.” star Won Ji-an, “The Fortress and Svaha: The Sixth Finger” actor Lee David and “Ditto” actor Roh Jae-won.
Other new actors: These actors will join the new cast members previously announced during Netflix’s Tudum fan event earlier this month: Yim Si-wan (“Unlocked”), Kang Ha-neul (“The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure”), Park Sung-hoon (“The Glory”) and Yang Dong-geun (“Yaksha: Ruthless Operations”).
Returning actors: Meanwhile, actors from Season 1 set to reappear include Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun, Lee Byung-hun as the Front Man, Wi Ha-jun as police detective Hwang Jun-ho and Gong Yoo as the Salesman.
Crew, production and release: Series creator, director and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk will helm the sophomore season of “Squid Game.” Production for Season 2 is scheduled to commence later this year.
Fans can notably expect the introduction of the “boyfriend” of “Red Light, Green Light” doll Young-hee.
An official release date for “Squid Game” Season 2 has yet to be announced.
Record-breaking success: “Squid Game,” which premiered in October 2021, accumulated over 1.65 billion viewing hours within its first 28 days and remains the most-watched series in the history of Netflix.
Additionally, Netflix is slated to release “Squid Game: The Challenge,” a reality competition show inspired by the original series that is set to premiere in November. It will feature 456 players competing for a $4.56 million cash prize, the largest prize ever offered in a reality series.
