TikToker goes viral for eating McDonald’s ice cream with Chinese herbal cough syrup
A Singaporean TikToker has gone viral for eating ice cream from McDonald’s with Chinese herbal cough syrup.
On Saturday, Calvin Lee (@foodmakescalhappy) posted a video of himself in a McDonald’s branch in Singapore. In the 15-second clip, Lee can be seen drizzling Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa, a traditional cough syrup meant for cough and sore throat relief, on a cup of plain vanilla ice cream.
“Yasssssss love it,” the clip’s onscreen text says. “Your mouth will feel cool cool one after eating also hehe.”
Several TikTok users commented on Lee’s now-viral video, which has over 424,000 views and 13,200 likes.
“Sleep well,” one user wrote, referring to the fact that cough syrup may help increase drowsiness.
“WHAT THE HELL,” another said.
“I love the taste of this medicine,” another user commented.
This is not the first time Lee has tried pouring Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa over food.
On Friday, he posted a TikTok video of himself eating a McSpicy burger from McDonald’s with cough syrup drizzled on top.
He also posted a short clip on TikTok on Sunday, this time with Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa and durian.
In addition to trying different kinds of food with cough syrup, Lee has recorded himself experimenting with other kinds of unconventional pairings, including chocolate instant noodles, century egg bubble tea and peanut butter chicken rice.
