Singer and actress Selena Gomez made a beloved Filipino dish with celebrity chef Jordan Andino for the cooking show “Selena + Chef.”
While quarantining last year, Gomez created her unscripted series, according to MSN. Every episode features a celebrity chef, and this upcoming second season will include Marcela Valladolid, Aarti Sequeira, JJ Johnson and José Andrés, among others.
In the new trailer for “Selena + Chef” Season 2, Gomez shares her willingness to improve as a chef: “As you all know by now, I’m not the best cook. But I’m not going to stop trying to get better. So I’m back in my kitchen to get schooled by the best chefs.”
The first season of the show, which consisted of 10 episodes, featured celebrity chefs such as Roy Choi, Candice Kumai and Angelo Sosa. These chefs taught Gomez how to make a range of dishes, from homemade gnocchi and spicy miso ramen to Korean BBQ breakfast tacos.
The official trailer of Season 2 includes a snippet of Andino, the host of “Late Nite Eats” and the owner of Flip Sigi, a taqueria in New York that combines Mexican and Filipino cuisine. Adobo-ritos, sinigang flip bowls and Filipino breakfast bowls are some of the Filipino-inspired dishes that Andino’s restaurant offers.
In the trailer for Gomez’s show, Andino video calls his lola, then declares: “My grandmother’s going to come on and critique our adobo.”
After scrutinizing their food, Andino’s grandmother simply says, “It’s okay,” making Andino and Gomez laugh.
Starting on Jan. 21, the first three episodes of the second season will be released on HBO Max.
