Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh announced the birth of her first grandchild on New Year’s Day.
The announcement: Yeoh, 61, shared a photo of the baby’s foot on social media Monday, expressing joy for the “special bundle of joy.” The child, named Maxime, belongs to Nicolas Todt, the son of her French husband Jean Todt, 77, from a previous relationship.
“A little miracle on the first day of 2024,” Yeoh wrote. “We are so truly blessed… can’t tell u how happy I am for this very very special bundle of joy.”
Grandmother status: In another post, Yeoh confirmed her grandmother status, thanking Nicolas and his wife Darina “for making [her and Jean] the happiest and proudest Grandparents!”
Yeoh also shared more photos of her family meeting Maxime for the first time at a hospital. In one image, Yeoh can be seen smiling as she holds the newborn baby in her arms.
About Yeoh and Todt: The news comes less than a month after Yeoh and Jean hosted their private wedding ceremony in Ipoh after tying the knot in July in Switzerland. The couple first met at a Ferrari event in Shanghai on June 4, 2004.
Jean, a former CEO of Ferrari and a former president of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, currently serves as the United Nations Secretary General’s special envoy for road safety. Together, they own an 18th-century mansion in Geneva, where they reside.
