Kim Kardashian wears chopsticks, kimono during impromptu photo shoot in Japan

Kim Kardashian wore chopsticks in her hair while donning a kimono during a spontaneous photoshoot in Japan.
Impromptu shoot: On Tuesday, the 42-year-old reality TV personality posted images taken by her 10-year-old daughter, North West, on Instagram. Kardashian can be seen striking poses inside a hotel suite while wearing the traditional Japanese garment adorned with metallic silk detailing. She also styled her hair in an updo held together with what appear to be metal chopsticks.
Chopsticks for hair: It is worth noting that chopsticks are primarily intended for dining. An accessory called the kanzashi is typically used in traditional Japanese hairstyles.
Collaborative affair: Alongside North West, Kourtney Kardashian’s 11-year-old daughter, Penelope, and Tracy Romulus’ 9-year-old daughter, Ryan, contributed by holding up an iPhone and a ring light to capture the images. In the comment section of the Instagram post, several fans commended the collaborative atmosphere during the shoot.
Past controversies: Despite support from fans, the photo shoot reignited discussions of a 2019 controversy involving Kardashian in which she named her shapewear brand “Kimono.” She faced backlash for cultural appropriation and later renamed the brand “Skims,” emphasizing inclusivity and diversity.
“Has she learned nothing from the whole KIMONO drama?” one Instagram user wrote. “I don’t think it’s offensive but it’s insensitive, doing a whole photoshoot in bed and stuff, this is a traditional clothing meant for festivities and events not a PJ party outfit.”
