BLACKPINK’s Jisoo broke a YouTube milestone on Tuesday after her solo debut “Flower” became the first K-pop music video released in 2023 to garner over 400 million views.
Breaking the news: Jisoo, whose real name is Kim Ji-soo, reached the milestone at around 3:57 p.m. Korean time on Tuesday. BLACKPINK’s official page on X, formerly Twitter, also broke the news to the group’s over-9.9 million followers on the platform.
“Flower” is reportedly the only K-pop music video released in 2023 to reach the 400-million-view milestone on YouTube this year.
Key details: “Flower,” released on March 31, served as Jisoo’s debut for her solo career. It only took the BLACKPINK star six months and three days to reach the YouTube milestone.
Their solo careers: All BLACKPINK members have now launched their solo careers. Jennie, whose full name Jennie Kim, was the first singer in the group to release a solo debut single, titled “SOLO,” in November 2018. She was followed by Rosé, whose real name is Roseanne Park, who launched her solo album “R” in March 2021.
Meanwhile, Lisa, whose real name is Lalisa Manobal, released her solo songs “LALISA” and “Money” in September and November 2021, respectively. The latter track recently set a new Guinness World Record as the “first K-pop track by a solo artist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify.”
