The Fort Collins police are investigating four separate burglaries that took place within the same month, all targeting homes of Asian families in Colorado.
Windsor burglary: In one of the burglaries, a group of thieves broke into an Asian couple’s home in Windsor, stealing cash, handbags and watches, amounting to $200,000 worth of items, reported 9News. The incident took place before 7 p.m. on Thursday when both Kae Dumrongpalasit and her husband Ram were at their restaurant.
The couple’s doorbell recorded a video of a woman knocking on their door, who then seemingly gave the all-clear for the break-in. The thieves reportedly entered through the basement after disconnecting the Wi-Fi, disabling the indoor cameras.
Dumrongpalasit’s concerns: The Dumrongpalasit family expressed the emotional impact of losing valuable items and raised concerns about whether the suspects were familiar with their routine and schedule.
“We work so hard for it and it is all gone And the value of the stuff, it is a lot,” Kae told 9 News. “And then seeing [my husband] getting super depressed…I have to be strong, so I try to be strong the whole situation, but it hurts a lot.”
Investigation: There is currently no information regarding the whereabouts of the thieves. The Fort Collins police are collaborating with the Windsor Police Department to investigate possible connections among this burglary and the other three.
