A restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, is selling a premium bowl of pho with wagyu beef, foie gras and more for 4 million Vietnamese dong (approximately $170).
Where to find it: The dish, which is prepared by chef Le Trung, can be found at Oriental Pearl Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The restaurant is located in the Vinpearl Landmark 81, Ho Chi Minh City’s tallest building.
What’s in it: Each bowl of Trung’s pho includes premium ingredients such as wagyu beef, foie gras, shaved truffles and simmered spareribs. The broth is simmered for up to 48 hours in marrow bones, oxtail, chicken carcasses, cinnamon and star anise, among other ingredients. Trung then garnishes the dish with gold leaf before it is served.
A fine dining approach: “This is my re-imagining of one of the world’s most popular dishes,” Trung told CNN. “Traditionally, pho has not been considered fine dining, but we have managed to enhance the flavors to make this version taste wonderfully rich and indulgent. … The result is a spectacular bowl of pho that lingers on the taste buds and in the memory.”
