Japanese Restaurant in Canada Now Serves ‘Beer Ramen’

The creative dish is basically ramen but instead of being served in a bowl, the British Columbia restaurant Yuu Japanese Tapas serves it in a beer mug.

At first glance, one could mistake the meal for an actual beer with ramen noodles floating in it. The chilled bonito broth topped with fake foam made from egg whites and gelatin gives it that beer-like appearance. Unfortunately, the dish does not contain any alcohol.

The idea for the beer ramen first came to restaurant owner Julia Kubotani one hot day in Vancouver.

“Thankfully we had a very hot summer this year in Vancouver and one day I was just sitting on the couch and it was so hot and thought about icy cold beer. And the next thing I thought, ‘why not beer ramen?’” she said while speaking to Insider.
