Korean American musician and content creator David Choi, who first started posting videos on YouTube in 2006, recently announced his latest project: a company that makes catchy, educational songs for children.
“As you may or may not know, I have a daughter,” Choi says in the video. “I love this little girl, and to be honest, for so many years, I was in search for meaning and purpose and I was so uninspired, and I didn’t like what I wrote, I didn’t know who I was … and when this little girl was born, everything changed.”
Choi, 37, reveals that he became inspired to write songs for his 2-year-old daughter, Bijou, to teach her valuable lessons while also making her smile and dance. Near the end of his video, he shares the trailer for Good Kids Company, which features several animated characters such as Bibi, Raffy, Jimmy and Tia.
In addition to YouTube, Choi’s company’s songs can also be found on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
Choi, who has over 937,000 YouTube subscribers, rose to fame after posting now-viral covers of popular songs, including Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours” and Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
Several of his original songs have also gone viral, including “That Girl” and “By My Side.”
In addition to posting his own content, Choi has previously collaborated with other YouTubers such as Wong Fu Productions and Ryan Higa. He is notably a member of K-pop parody group Boys Generally Asian (BgA), which was created by Higa.
