Ye mocked for dining with white supremacist at Japanese restaurant

Twitter users are having a blast mocking Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, after a picture of him having dinner with white supremacist Nick Fuentes at a strip mall hibachi in Maryland started circulating online.
The picture was reportedly taken at Matsutake Sushi and Steak in Frederick, Maryland, on Tuesday after Ye walked out of a “Timcast IRL” podcast interview conducted by right-wing host Tim Pool, who asked the 45-year-old rapper about his past antisemitic comments.
In the picture, Ye can be seen posing with a woman while a man in a blue hoodie sits beside him. The man in question has been identified as Nick Fuentes, a known white supremacist leader who wants to create a white nationalist party in the country.
“White nationalists out for dinner at a Japanese restaurant, typical hypocrisy,” one Twitter user said.
“Hauling ass to rural Maryland to look miserable at hibachi and then hang out with Tim Pool is how you know you’ve hit rock bottom,” another user added.
“Kanye really went from clubbing with Jay-Z and Pharrell to getting hibachi at a suburban strip mall with Nick Fuentes,” another commented.
Fuentes, 24, is known for making antisemitic and racist comments on his platforms, including his show “America First with Nicholas J. Fuentes.”
During the Timcast IRL interview, Pool, 36, began questioning Ye about his antisemitic comments on social media. However, before the host could go further, Ye threatened to walk out because he felt he was being set up.
“I feel like it’s a setup… I’m going to walk the f*ck off the show if I’m having to talk about, ‘You can’t say Jewish people did it,’ when every sensible person knows — that Jon Stewart knows — what happened to me, and they took it too far,” Ye told Pool.
“I thought I was more Malcolm X, but I found out I’m more MLK. As I’m getting hosed down every day by the press and financially, I’m just standing there,” Ye continued. “When I found out they were trying to put me in jail, it was like a dog was biting my arm, and I almost shed a tear. Almost. But I still walked in stride through it.”
Fuentes and Milo Yiannopoulos, who were also guests on the podcast on Monday, joined Ye when he eventually stormed off.
This recent incident was not the first time Ye and Fuentes made headlines for being seen together. Ye reportedly brought Fuentes to dinner at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida earlier this month, prompting the former president to deny any knowledge of who Fuentes was at the gathering.
In a Truth Social post, Trump explained that Ye called him to have dinner at Mar-a-Lago before he “unexpectedly showed up with three of his friends.”
“We had dinner on Tuesday evening with many members present on the back patio. The dinner was quick and uneventful. They then left for the airport,” Trump continued.
The news led to many Republicans and organizations supporting Trump to condemn the gathering, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has been a frequent target of attacks by Trump in the past.
“There is no room in the Republican Party for antisemitism or white supremacy,” McConnell said on Tuesday. “And anyone meeting with people advocating that point of view, in my judgment, are highly unlikely to ever be elected president of the United States.”
In addition to making fun of Ye for being spotted at a strip-mall hibachi with Fuentes, some Twitter users also made fun of his shoes, which look like fishing boots.
“He had a long day fishing give him a break,” one Twitter user said.
“Somewhere in rural Maryland Bigfoot woke up missing his galoshes,” another user tweeted.
“Ye finding out that they won’t serve you fish sticks in a Japanese restaurant even if you come dressed like the Gortons Fisherman,” another user wrote.
