Toronto Man Arrested for Throwing Poop at Asian College Students

Toronto police have apprehended the man they believe dumped buckets of fecal matter on unsuspecting college students.
The suspect Samuel Opoku, 23, has been arrested and charged with five counts of assault with a weapon and five counts of mischief interfere with property, according to the Toronto Police.
The string of attacks, which occurred over the span of four days, began on Nov. 22 when a man allegedly threw a bucket of “liquefied fecal matter” on two people in the Robarts Library at the University of Toronto.
The attacks continued just two days later on Nov. 24 when a woman and man were assaulted with fecal matter at the Scott Library at York University.
A third attack occurred the next day on Nov. 25 when a woman was doused with fecal matter in the area of College Street and McCaul Street in Toronto.
In all three cases, the man dumped the melted fecal matter on his victims using a bucket. The victims were all Asian, according to Victor Kwong of the Toronto police. However, he does not believe the attacks were racially motivated, the Star reported.
“We don’t know if that’s the connection, because we have different parts of Asia in there. Some (of the victims) were from the west side, some from the east side — so it’s not like they were all Chinese, per se,” Kwong said.
The attacks left many confused and fearful.
“I don’t know what to say, I’m at a loss, this is absolutely disgusting,” said Toronto police Const. David Hopkinson.
“I’m not going to stop coming to the library but I’m definitely checking over my shoulder every now and then,” student Ethan Deneault was quoted as saying.
“It’s completely inexplicable, I don’t know why someone would do such a thing,” said Mayor John Tory. “This is a person, to me, who has some very serious issues, it would seem.”
Opoku was set to appear in court on the morning of Nov. 27.
