A female doctor in Sydney pleaded guilty to four harassment-related offenses after she was accused of sending thousands of messages to her former Tinder date.
Denise Jane Lee, a 40-year-old radiologist, admitted to four of 10 charges filed against her, court documents revealed.
The remaining six charges, which included using a carriage service, intimidation and contravening an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO), were withdrawn following hours of negotiations between her lawyer and prosecutor Amin Assaad.
The 40-year-old radiologist was arrested in February 2017 after being accused of becoming obsessive, reports News.com.
She allegedly sent thousands of abusive and threatening texts and emails to Matthew Holberton, his new girlfriend and their family members.
Between July and September 2015, Lee and Holberton reportedly had four dinner dates and two sexual encounters. He later broke off the relationship and moved to Melbourne.
Last month, Magistrate Michael Barko had earlier refused a defense application for the charges to be dismissed on mental health grounds. He referred to five volumes of folders containing the 9,000 messages that were sent by Lee.
Assaad, who told the court Lee’s behavior was “nothing but stalking,” said the emails questioned the integrity and looks of Holberton’s new girlfriend as well as their relationship.
On Monday, both parties agreed that they will be preparing an agreed statement of facts for the next hearing.
