Millionaire Stock Trader Donates $1 Million to Build Schools Across Southeast Asia

Sykes constant display of wealth has earned him hardcore fans and haters alike — you either love him or you hate him with a passion.

However, it appears that Sykes has a generous side to him as well. Recently, he announced that he’s a donating a $1 million grant to Pencil of Promise (PoP) to build around 25 schools across Southeast Asia.

Sykes made the generous offer after touring another school he built in Laos that cost him $50,000.

He was so moved by what he saw that he made the decision on the spot to donate $1 million from his new Timothy Sykes Foundation.

“I believe knowledge truly is power and education is key to the future of our children. That’s why it is my personal mission to support education in communities that are in desperate need of some of the everyday resources that many of us take for granted,” Sykes said. “I have seen first-hand some of the amazing work Pencils of Promise does around the world and I’m proud to help them further their mission.”

Pencils of Promise was founded in 2008 with a goal of increasing access to quality education for children in development countries. To date, they’ve built over 380 schools and provided access to education for over 35,000 students across the world.
