Paramount Pictures unveiled the official trailer for “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” on Wednesday.
The upcoming film, which is based on the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, follows the Turtle brothers — Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael — as they struggle with feeling like outsiders in their community.
In the film’s latest trailer, the Turtle brothers are surprised to find they aren’t the only anthropomorphic creatures in their city.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” is directed by Jeff Rowe with a screenplay by Rowe, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Dan Hernandez.
In a recent interview with Empire, Rowe shared that he aspired to make “the ultimate teenage coming-of-age film.”
“We wanted it to be like ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘Lady Bird.’ But, you know, with Ninja Turtles,” he said, referencing Rob Reiner’s 1986 coming-of-age-film and Greta Gerwig’s 2017 comedy-drama film, respectively.
The film’s star-studded cast includes Rogen, Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Hannibal Buress, Rose Byrne, Nicolas Cantu, John Cena, Ice Cube, Jackie Chan, Natasia Demetriou, Ayo Edebiri, Giancarlo Esposito, Post Malone, Paul Rudd, Brady Noon and Maya Rudolph.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” hits cinemas on Aug. 2. Check out its official trailer below:
