On Wednesday, the Japanese government announced the extension of its second state of emergency in 11 prefectures, namely Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Aichi, Gifu, Tochigi, Fukuoka, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama and Tokyo, according to Japan Times.
“It’s undeniable that many new infections can be attributed to youth who unwittingly became infected and carried the virus to those who are more vulnerable,” Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said. “A state of emergency is a strong measure that in many ways limits personal freedoms, but one that is necessary if the virus is to be contained.”
Universal Studios Japan originally planned to open Super Nintendo World in July 2020, but the company pushed back the date to Feb. 4 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
