No Name ‘Best Selling Author’ Attacks Congressman Ted Lieu With Racist Tweet
By Max Chang
Meet Steve Santagati.
He’s a self-proclaimed “best selling author” of “The Manual: A True Bad Boy Explains How Men Think, Date, and Mate — and What Women Can Do to Come Out on Top,” despite the amount of 1-star reviews on Amazon.
Recently Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA) caused controversy after walking out on a moment of silence on the House floor to protest gun violence in the aftermath of the Texas church shooting in Sutherland Springs that claimed 25 lives.
While there’s nothing wrong with disagreeing with Lieu’s actions, Santagati decided to respond in the best way he knows how: by sending the most racist tweet ever.
Of course, his tweet drew a lot of backlash on Twitter, but he’s not remorseful. He’s actually doubling down.
Perhaps what’s sad about this whole thing is that Santagati seems to be kind of a big deal, with features on the “Today Show”, “Day to Day with Rachael Ray”, “The View”, CNBC, Extra, the WB, “Montel Williams”, “The Tyra Show”, and VH1.
He also things catcalling women on the streets is perfectly ok because it’s a “compliment,” and that a solution to the situation isn’t for men to respect the wishes of women, but for women to stop having so many babies.
Santagati has, unsurprisingly, not issued any kind of apology for his comments nor has he deleted his tweets as of this writing.
As someone who is recognized by some as a public figure, his inability to recognize and comprehend his own racist tendencies — aside from the fact that he refuses to respect women — is truly jarring and unacceptable.
