Starship Entertainment confirms Luda and Dawon still part of girl group WJSN
Starship Entertainment, the K-pop agency that manages WJSN, has confirmed that members Luda and Dawon are still part of the girl group.
Additionally, when fellow WJSN member Soobin was asked on Monday during a live broadcast of the YouTube channel “Han Moon Chul TV” whether WJSN has nine members, she replied, “No, we are still 10 members. We’ve always been 10.”
These statements are the latest development following reports that eight out of 13 WJSN members have renewed their contracts. Yeoreum, Bona, Seola, Exy, Soobin, Eunseo, Dayoung and Yeonjung all renewed their contracts, while Luda and Dawon reportedly terminated theirs.
WJSN’s former Chinese members Xuanyi, Chengxiao and Meiqi, who joined the group through Starship Entertainment’s partnership with Chinese entertainment agency Yuehua Entertainment, left following their contract expirations. The trio have not actively promoted in South Korea since 2018, instead opting to focus on activities in China.
WJSN, created by both Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment, debuted in February 2016 as a 12-member group prior to Yeonjung joining later that year in June. Their most recent release is “Sequence,” a single album released in July 2022. The K-pop act were notably crowned the winners of the second season of Mnet’s reality competition TV show “Queendom” last year.
