In a press release issued on Monday, Starbucks Japan announced that its new drink, called the Matcha Genmai Mochi Frappuccino, will be available starting on Dec. 26.

The matcha Frappuccino will consist of milk, whipped cream, white chocolate powder, toasted mochi, matcha mousse, three types of matcha and genmaicha, or brown rice tea.
Starbucks Japan will add powdered kuromame, or sweet black beans, and powdered kombu, or seaweed, as its special ingredients. Kombu is reportedly used as a palate cleanser in some Japanese dessert cafes.
In addition to the new Frappuccino, Starbucks Japan will also introduce the Matcha Genmai Mousse Tea Latte and the Japanese Chai Tea Latte. The latter is the chain’s take on Indian masala chai with a Japanese twist. The hot hojicha latte will include yuzu citrus, mandarin orange peel, ginger and sansho, or Japanese pepper.
Prices for the three new drinks, which will arrive just in time for the new year, will range from 501 yen to 690 yen. They will be available until Jan. 17, 2023, or while supplies last.
