‘Lucky to survive’: SoCal entrepreneur recalls being shot while driving in San Francisco

An entrepreneur from Southern California was recently shot in the leg after she found herself caught in the middle of a drive-by shooting in San Francisco.
What happened: Winnie Goh, founder of dog accessory company & Mutts Co., took to Instagram on Saturday to write about the incident that reportedly occurred while she was driving at around 7:20 p.m. on June 11, describing it as “one of the most traumatic experiences” she has ever faced.
“Not even within one minute of me driving, I caught myself in the middle of a drive-by shooting,” she recounted. “I heard multiple gunshots in front of me, and as I looked to my left, I saw a car with a gun sticking out.”
Total shock: Goh said she felt a sharp pain in her leg and noticed blood, then realized that she had been shot.
X-rays later revealed that a bullet had entered her leg, leaving bullet fragments “dispersed throughout her body” and causing a fracture.
Under investigation: Goh, who is from Rancho Cucamonga, was reportedly driving down Geneva Street to see a friend at the time of the incident.
The case is still being investigated by the San Francisco Police Department, and no arrests have been made as of this writing.
In recovery: Despite the distressing incident, doctors informed Goh that she is healing normally and will recover soon.
Reflecting on the incident, Goh expressed gratitude for being “really lucky to survive” and the support she has received from her friends and family during her challenging time.
“When I think about this situation as a whole, I feel like I was really lucky to have my friends and family showing me so much support,” she shared. “They’ve been showering me with so much love.”
Embracing positivity: Goh tells NextShark that in a bid to turn the experience into something positive, she is giving away handcrafted toys from her company to doctors, nurses, EMTs, police officers and firefighters.
“I’m gifting first responders dog toys in a way to say thank you to them. I’m so grateful for what they do and they deserve the recognition!”
Those who want to claim their gifts may send their requests via DM and present proof that they are indeed first responders.
