Snoop Dogg is Great at Making Sushi Because of His Blunt Rolling Skills
By Ryan General
Aside from being a talented rapper, singer, songwriter, producer, media personality, entrepreneur, and actor, Snoop Dogg has developed into quite an expert cook as well.
As a self-professed cannabis connoisseur, Snoop’s joint-rolling skills have contributed to him becoming a sushi master as he detailed in his debut cookbook, “From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes From Tha Boss Dogg’s Kitchen” (Chronicle).
Published in October of last year, the book delves into his culinary journey using recipes from the early years of his rapping career in the ’90s to the present, which he mostly attributes to his long-time TV collaborator and real-life friend Martha Stewart.
The collection features 50 of Snoop Dogg’s favorite recipes including baked mac and cheese, chicken and waffles, baby back ribs, and others, which are presented with his entertaining tips.
Interestingly, Snoop kept “From Crook to Cook” relatively family-friendly, with a press release cited in People confirming the recipes are all cannabis-free.
“You know it’s blazin’ up in my kitchen,” the rapper was quoted as saying in the release. “I’m takin’ the cookbook game higher with a dipped and whipped collection of my favorite recipes, ya dig?”
Back in 2015, Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto showed Snoop how to roll the perfect sushi during the BattleRock Napa Valley festival.
“It was really fun,” Morimoto told the New York Post. “He was really into rolling sushi. And, of course, he’d had a lot of practice rolling other things.”
In his book, Snoop shared how rolling blunts helped him perfect his sushi rolling skills.
“Rolling blunts and rolling sushi are indeed similar. But you need more palm action to roll sushi as opposed to finger action to roll blunts,” the 47-year-old rapper wrote.
