Residents of Yishun, Singapore are being harassed by someone claiming to be the fictional villain from the Harry Potter novels, Lord Voldemort. The harassment has gotten so bad that local police have issued a public advisory telling people not to respond to any threats from the Dark Lord.
According to the authorities, 15 reports from multiple locations have already been filed regarding the threatening letters signed by “Lord Voldemort”, the main antagonist in novelist J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series. An email address was also added below the signature name in the letter, Channel News Asia reported.
“My name is Lord Voldermort. I am writing this mail to you because you and your family is about to face disturbing events soon. One of your neighbors owe me a few thousand dollars. He lives in the same block as you,” the letter reads. “Please help me to urge him to pay me what I am supposed to get or I will start harassing YOUR unit.”
The person continued to describe the things that will happen to the resident living in the possibly affected unit if they failed to cooperate with you-know-who’s demands. Some of the threats mentioned in the letters includes setting the gate on fire and painting the unit’s wall red.
Malaysian-born, Singaporean senator, Lee Bee Wah, warned the public of any possible leads regarding the identity of this “Lord Voldemort” person.
“The police have put up an advisory at the notice board. they have also stepped up patrols. All residents, if you see suspicious characters loitering or harassing units, please take photos and videos of them and submit them to the police,” she wrote on her Facebook post.
It is yet to be seen if he-who-must-not-be-named is truly behind all this terrible business and if the Dark Lord has once again returned to terrorize muggle-kind.
