This Singaporean Model Gets Paid $1,000 a Month to Play Pokémon Go

Ivy Lim, a Singaporean Pokémon Go enthusiast applied earlier this month after Funzing Singapore advertised for the one-of-a-kind job position in a post on their Facebook page. Within 24 hours of posting, the post had received more than 1,000 applications from around the world.

“I didn’t know that the job of Pokémon Master exists. I have always wanted to train alongside with friends to catch Pokémon in real life, just like in the Pokémon shows,” Lim told Yahoo Singapore on Tuesday.

Playing almost four hours a day since the game launched in Singapore early this month, the newly anointed Master is currently at Level 23 and has caught 121 Pokémon characters so far.

The company will pay the 22-year-old a cool $1,000 per month organizing Pokémon Go events for at least three months. Like a real-life Pokémon Master, part of her job will require her to teach participants how to best play the popular game.

Funzing Singapore Country Head Gabriel Nimrod told Yahoo Singapore in an interview that Lim will begin her Pokémon tasks next month, organizing at least one event per week.

He added that Pokémon Go fans in Singapore will have a first taste of the Funzing Singapore-organized Pokémon event in early September.

Applications from countries such as the UK, Israel, Indonesia, The Philippines, and Sweden poured in along with the 3,000 submitted by Singaporean applicants.
