Futuristic Sake Cup Fills Your Drink With Holographic Cherry Blossoms
By Carl Samson
Sake lovers can now enjoy their drink with falling cherry blossoms thanks to the wonders of holographic technology.
Drill, an advertising agency in Tokyo, partnered with creative tech firm Tongullman to develop the Holoyoisho, the sake cup to provide a new drinking experience.
The cup acquires its name from the words “horoyoi,” which means “slightly and comfortably drunk,” and “sho,” a box-like drinking vessel traditionally used to consume sake, according to SoraNews24.
The letter L in Holoyoisho, however, is not a mistake, as it points out the fact that the cup comes with holographic display.
As seen in a demo video, Holoyoisho lets drinkers enjoy sake with spring’s falling sakura petals, which even settle at the bottom for a more realistic view.
For a contemplative, zen-like experience, the cup also comes with a speaker that can play soothing, nature sounds.
Drill will debut Holoyoisho on June 26 and 27 at Pavilion, a restaurant in the Nakameguro neighborhood of Tokyo.
However, the company will make further improvements before launching a retail version, which may also include visuals for other seasons for an all-year-long drinking sesh.
