Red Velvet’s Seulgi confirmed to make October solo debut
Seulgi of K-pop girl group Red Velvet is confirmed to make her solo debut in October.
SM Entertainment made the announcement to Korean news outlets on Tuesday.
“Seulgi is currently working on her solo album, with the goal of releasing it in October. Please show lots of interest [in the release],” Red Velvet’s label said per Sports Kyunhang. No other details have been announced yet.
Seulgi’s forthcoming solo project comes after eight years with Red Velvet. She will be the third member to have an official solo project after Wendy’s mini-album “Like Water” in 2021 and Joy’s EP “Hello” in May. Other members such as Yeri have released solo works through the label’s SM Station project or K-drama OSTs.
Seulgi is one half of Irene & Seulgi, Red Velvet’s first subunit. She is also part of SM Entertainment female supergroup Girls On Top, which includes fellow Red Velvet member Wendy, K-pop soloist BoA, Girls’ Generation members Taeyeon and Hyoyeon and Aespa members Karina and Winter.
The last domestic comeback for Red Velvet was back in March with the mini-album “The Reve Festival 2022 – Fell My Rhythm,” led by the title track “Feel My Rhythm.”
