Randall Park film directorial debut ‘Shortcomings’ gets theatrical release date
Randall Park’s feature film directorial debut, “Shortcomings,” will be released in theaters on Aug. 4.
The movie made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and it is scheduled to make its New York debut at the Tribeca Festival next month.
Starring Justin H. Min, Sherry Cola and Ally Maki, “Shortcomings” is adapted from the award-winning graphic novel of the same name by Adrian Tomine, who also serves as an executive producer.
The film follows Ben (Min), a struggling filmmaker living in Berkeley, California, who manages an art-house movie theater. When his girlfriend Miko (Maki) moves to New York for an internship, Ben is forced to reevaluate his life’s direction. Along with his best friend Alice (Cola), a queer graduate student with a dating problem, Ben explores his true desires and goals.
Other cast members include Sonoya Mizuno, Jacob Batalon, Debby Ryan, Tavi Gevinson and Timothy Simons.
