PewDiePie Now Banned in China for Laughing at Winnie the Pooh Memes

The 29-year-old YouTube star made the announcement in his latest video posted on Saturday, saying he can no longer be searched on the Chinese internet, according to Dexerto.

 

“If you search anything Pewdiepie related on any Reddit related forum in China or a YouTube related video it will just be completely blank,” he said in his video. “I’m laughing, but yeah I’m sorry if you are in China and trying to watch my videos. That kinda sucks.”

He then went on to state that he expected the ban, and mentioned how music artist Zedd was banned in China for liking a “South Park” tweet.

“It’s just kinda funny, like I knew it was going to happen,” he added. “The music artist Zedd got banned in China just because he liked a South Park tweet, so obviously me talking about the Hong Kong memes was going to get me banned.”

Kjellberg was censored for his “meme review” video on October 16 after going over several memes from recent events, including the ongoing Hong Kong protests and Xi Jinping being likened to Winnie the Pooh.

 

“It became a meme that the Chinese leader looks exactly like Winnie the Pooh,” he laughed. “The resemblance is uncanny!”
