South Korean actor Park Seo-joon will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut in the upcoming film “The Marvels.”
Disney made the announcement during a special Disney Content Showcase at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on Wednesday.
Park, who is known for his roles in K-dramas such as “Itaewon Class” and “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,” will be the third actor of Korean descent to appear in the MCU after Claudia Kim in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” as Helen Cho and Ma Dong-seok in “The Eternals” as Gilgamesh.
While Disney and Marvel are still keeping specific details under wraps, rumors suggest that Park, 33, could be playing Amadeus Cho, the Korean American successor of Bruce Banner as the Hulk. “The Marvels” is reportedly intended to be the sequel to the 2019 film “Captain Marvel.”
During the recent content showcase, Disney also announced details for Korean shows such as the second season of the “The Zone: Survival Mission” and the upcoming K-drama “Call It Love,” directed by Lee Kwang-young and starring Kim Young-kwang and Lee Sung-kyoung.
Documentaries centering on K-pop, such as “BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star,” “Super Junior: The Last Man Standing” and a J-Hope solo documentary were also featured.
“The Marvels” will see the return of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, also known by her superhero name Captain Marvel. She will reportedly be joined by Pakistani Canadian actor Iman Vellani, who recently appeared in the Disney Plus series “Ms. Marvel.”
