HBO is Working on a Limited Series Based on ‘Parasite’

Early talks are underway as Bong Joon Ho’s hit movie “Parasite” heads to HBO as a limited series.
The Korean director is teaming up with Adam McKay, director of “The Big Short” and “Vice,” to executive produce the “Parasite” limited series, according to Variety.
The limited series project is being put together by McKay’s Hyperobject Industries, Kate Street Picture Company and CJ Entertainment. Dooho Choi from Kate Street, Francis Chung from CJ Entertainment and Kevin Messick from Hyperobject Industries will also executive produce the prospective project along with Miky Lee and Cho Young Ki.
Meanwhile, Fred Lee from CJ Entertainment will produce the project and Jerry Ko will co-executive produce.
It is still unclear if the series will be a follow-up to the hit movie which recently won a Golden Globe or if it will be an English-language remake.
“Parasite,” follows the story of the Kims, a poor but cunning family as they ingratiate themselves into the wealthy Park family. The film earned $23 million at the domestic box office and $130 million globally, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
