Netflix brings iconic ‘One Piece’ locations to life in sneak peek of new live-action series adaptation

Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates are gearing up to sail into a live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga, “One Piece,” with Netflix sharing a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of the show’s sprawling setpieces.
To bring the characters that populate the swashbuckling stories to life, showrunners Matt Owens and Steve Maeda believed it was necessary to recreate the manga’s various settings, from the decks of the Going Merry to the floating docks of the Baratie.
Netflix may be treading into treacherous waters by adapting the most popular manga of all time, given its spotty track record with previous live-action adaptations of popular manga and anime like “Death Note” and “Cowboy Bebop,” but the crew’s dedication to faithfully recreating the unique and vibrant world of “One Piece” is an indication that the studio might be steering in the right direction this time around.
While the show’s release date has yet to be announced, the members of the Straw Hat Pirates have already been cast, with Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami and Taz Skylar as Sanji.
