Olivia Rodrigo has choice words for SCOTUS overturning of Roe v. Wade at Glastonbury performance

Olivia Rodrigo paused during her Glastonbury Festival performance on Saturday to address the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court of the United States with Lily Allen by her side.

“I’m devastated and terrified that so many women and so many girls are going to die because of this,” the young artist expressed. “I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have showed us that at the end of the day, they truly don’t give a sh*t about freedom.”

Rodrigo then identified the five justices by name, saying, “This song goes out to the justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh.”

“We hate you,” Rodrigo declared as Allen displayed her middle finger to the camera.

The duo went on to perform Lily Allen’s 2009 hit single“F*ck You.”

This is not the first time the Filipino American star has used her platform to support abortion and women’s rights. During her “Sour” tour, Rodrigo paused her concert to address the earlier leaked draft of the decision, stating, “Our bodies should never be in the hands of politicians. I hope we can raise out voices to protect our right to have a safe abortion, which is a right that so many people before us have worked so hard to get.”

In light of the Roe v. Wade overruling, Olivia Rodrigo has joined the many AAPI celebrities and lawmakers who have condemned the decision.

The ruling to overturn the 1973 landmark decision on Roe v. Wade reverses 50 years of precedent on reproductive rights. Abortions will no longer be considered a constitutional right, allowing individual states to dictate reproductive healthcare.

This decision follows a trend of convervative Supreme Court rulings, including the historic decision to allow an individual the right to carry a gun outside the home.
