A Canadian Vietnamese Twitch streamer, known by her handle Lannia “Ohlana,” passed away from apparent suicide a few days ago.
The 26-year-old often streamed games such as “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” (CS:GO) and “Valorant,” as well as traveling vlogs and talks with her Twitch chat. She had just reached 100,000 followers on the platform, according to Dexterto.
Alarming messages: Ohlana posted three tweets and an Instagram story between July 5 and 6. In the story is a single note titled “The Next Chapter,” and was posted into a separate highlight with a heart emoji. In the messages, she mentioned every day getting harder, depression and a reflection on her life so far. Concerned followers worried that it was a suicide note.

Twitch passings: Earlier in the month, Twitch lost two more streamers, namely Byron ‘Reckful’ Bernstein, who was a big presence in the “World of Warcraft” scene, and Kenny “Blue622” Tancredi, who was known for “Grand Theft Auto” (GTA). Reckful died from suicide on July 2 and Blue622 “unexpectedly” on July 5.
“Heightened scrutiny has now been placed on how content creation, particularly for streamers, and the challenges it presents, often exacerbated by trolls and drama, is taking its toll on these individuals,” Dexerto wrote.
The reaction: After a person by the name of Kevin, who appeared to have been a close friend to Ohlana, commented under her last tweet, more followers, friends and streamers came to post on Ohlana’s Twitter and offer their condolences and mourn the streamer.
