Send noods: Struggling ramen bar starts OnlyFans to save business
By Ryan General
The owner of a struggling ramen restaurant in Houston has turned to OnlyFans to support his business.
What’s up: The owner of Ninja Ramen, which opened its doors at 4219 Washington Ave. in 2014, reported that his restaurant is grappling with a significant decline in revenue, a plight shared by many eateries in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. On Jan. 30, owner Christopher Huang took to Instagram to unveil his multifaceted plan to avoid closing his restaurant.
In his post, Huang cited various factors behind the loss of revenue, including inflation, shifting consumer spending habits and escalating operational costs. With revenue hovering at just 80% of pre-pandemic levels and operational expenses steadily rising, the financial viability of the establishment hangs in the balance.
Saving the business: To secure his Houston restaurant’s future, Huang said he is implementing a series of measures, including slashing prices on Asian whiskies, developing a revamped cocktail menu, introducing rotating food specials and fostering collaborations with fellow restaurateurs and even celebrities.
Huang also urged patrons to send in photos of themselves enjoying the restaurant’s signature dishes, wittingly referred to as “hot noods,” so he can share them on the company’s OnlyFans page. Despite the tongue-in-cheek nature of the request, Huang indicated that he is serious in his intent to reignite interest in Ninja Ramen and attract much-needed support.
“I don’t know how to ask for help in an elegant manner. Instead I’m going to awkwardly appeal to your sense of kinship to Houston culture that we’ve been a part of for the past decade. We’re a part of the city’s flavor, please tell your friends and family to come slurp us up.”
Community commits support: In response to Huang’s plea for support, commenters have expressed solidarity for his ramen business’s plight, with some expressing their eagerness to visit the establishment.
“Next time I am out for ramen I’m coming through,” one commenter wrote.
“I’ve never been (have been dying to go) but I’m DEFINITELY going now, and bringing friends!!!!” another shared.
“All of a sudden I have a craving for some ninja ramen,” another chimed in.
