Filipino American actor Nico Santos recently shared an update about his upcoming wedding with fiancé Zeke Smith.
Future plans: Responding to a question by “ET Canada” about his future plans, Santos revealed that tying the knot with the former “Survivor” contestant is his main focus these days.
“Getting married. That’s where my mind is right now,” he said. “We are deep into the wedding planning process, so that’s taking up a lot of space in my mind, rightfully so.”
The couple became engaged last year after Santos accepted Smith’s surprise wedding proposal at the 2022 GLAAD Media Awards.
Grateful for opportunities: Known for his memorable roles in “Crazy Rich Asians” as Oliver T’sien and in the NBC comedy series “Superstore” as Mateo Liwanag, Santos recently appeared as the villainous character Mateo Liwanag in the film “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.”
Expressing gratitude for the opportunities that have come his way, the actor shared, “I think I’m just approaching everything from a place of gratitude because I just can’t believe it sometimes.”
Greater visibility for Filipino representation: A vocal advocate for role diversity, Santos also emphasized the importance of Filipino representation as well as other ethnic groups and countries across Asia in the entertainment industry.
“You often see stories about the Chinese experience, the Korean experience, the Japanese experience but Asians are very varied across continents,” he told “ET Canada.” “There are so many stories to draw from — not just the Filipino experience, but other ethnic groups and or countries in Asia that still haven’t been fully represented.”
New film projects: As his wedding plans take shape, Santos’ career continues to flourish with the upcoming release of his latest film projects.
Santos’ upcoming Netflix movie “Happiness for Beginners,” based on the 2015 novel by Katherine Cente of the same name, is set to be released on July 27. He will also appear in the comedy film “The Re-Education of Molly Singer.”
