Asian Woman Allegedly Attacked in the Netherlands Because of Racist Coronavirus Song on Radio

In yet another racist attack targeting Asians, a 24-year old student in the Netherlands was recently attacked by a group of young men as she was on her way to her apartment.
Cindy, a Dutch-Chinese woman residing in Tilburg, reportedly encountered the attackers who were singing a racist song as she went inside the apartment elevator, the Dutch Review reported.
The song, called “Prevention is better than Chinese,” had earlier caused controversy after DJ Lex Gaarthuis played it on the Radio 10 station (Netherlands). The title of the song is a play on words, as the words for “Chinese” and “cure“ sound similar in Dutch, Agence France-Presse reported.
According to the song’s lyrics, “if you don’t eat Chinese (food), you have nothing to worry about, because prevention is better than Chinese.” The song also referred to the Chinese as “stinky.”
Offended by the racist song, Cindy asked the group to stop singing. In response, the group violently attacked her.
Cindy briefly passed out and later woke up on the floor of the hall with slashes on her body. According to Cindy, the boys had slashed her with a knife because they wanted to “remove” the coronavirus from her body. She has since reported the incident to the police.
In an interview with RTL Nieuws, Cindy lamented how her reaction to the song could lead to such violence.
She has also expressed willingness to speak with her attackers so she can enlighten them about the consequences of prejudice and violence.
