MGM Television, SM Entertainment to Form NCT Subunit in US K-pop Competition Series

MGM Worldwide Television Group is working with South Korea’s SM Entertainment to create a U.S.-based K-pop competition series and form an NCT subunit.
About the series: The televised series will recruit American men aged 13 to 25 to create NCT-Hollywood, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
- The series aims “to help contestants show their true unlimited potential in becoming true artists,” SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo-Man said.
- The chosen contestants will be sent to Seoul to participate in a K-pop bootcamp at the SM Entertainment Campus.
- Contestants will compete in various challenges, from dancing to singing, during every episode.
Who’s involved: Joining Lee are current members of NCT from subunits NCT 127, NCT Dream and WayV, reported Deadline.
- The SM Entertainment founder will judge and mentor the contestants alongside the NCT members.
- MGM Worldwide Television Group Chairman Mark Burnett will help produce the series.
- A production date has yet to be released.
