More Ming Na Wen to Appear in Upcoming ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Series

Fans of actress Ming Na Wen and her character Fennec Shand will have a lot to look forward to with the announcement of an upcoming new “Star Wars” show on Disney Plus.
Surprise spin-off: The show, titled “The Book of Boba Fett” was first hinted in the post-credits sequence after the season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian” and confirmed by executive producer Jon Favreau on Monday, Variety reported.
- The new show will star Maori actor Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen as the elite assassin Fennec Shand.
- The series, which continues the journey of the fan favorite characters, is set to premiere in December 2021.
- While set within the timeline of “The Mandalorian,” Favreau clarified that the “Boba Fett” series is a separate show and not a third season of the hit show.
- Wen celebrated the announcement with an Instagram post and a subtle tweet, asking, “Just woke up. Any good news this morning?”
Wen’s Fennec Shand: Introduced in “The Mandalorian” episode ”The Gunslinger,” the character is the first major “Star Wars” anti-hero portrayed by an Asian actress.
- In “The Mandalorian” Season 2 finale, the highly skilled fighter has become Boba Fett’s traveling companion.
- Wen will also voice a younger Fennec in the animated series “Star Wars: The Bad Batch.”
- The role is one of the multiple Walt Disney Company projects, Wen has starred in.
- A true Disney Legend, she has previously played the voice of Mulan in the original animated film and starred in ABC’s Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
