‘Elden Ring’: Ming-Na Wen stars in new live-action trailer for ‘hottest game in town’
Chinese American actress Ming-Na Wen invites players into the world of FromSoftware’s popular video game “Elden Ring” while offering some advice in its latest trailer.
“Elden Ring,” the action role-playing game released on Feb. 25, sees players engage in challenging combat and exploration of the realm of Lands Between. Its writers include “A Song of Fire and Ice” author George R. R. Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of the “Souls” series of video games who also serves as the game’s co-director.
“Elden Ring” has become one of the best-reviewed games and the third largest Twitch debut of all time after “Lost Ark” and “Cyberpunk 2077.”
In the game’s live-action trailer, Wen accepts the game’s challenge to become the Elden Lord. She enters her private training room and reveals her to-do list, which references her past roles, including as Fa Mulan in the 1998 film “Mulan” and Chun Li in the 1994 film adaptation of “Street Fighter.” Her latest goal waiting to be crossed out on the list is “To seek the Elden Ring.”
“Never let success get to your head. Arrogance is failure,” Wen states in the trailer, which was released on March 3. “The quest for the Elden Ring will be no different.”
She notes the game’s difficulty, acknowledging her “dance with death a hundred times” while facing demigods and demons; however, she advises players: “I wish you luck, and may death never stop you.”
Wen also took to Twitter to share a promotional image and praise “Elden Ring” as the “hottest game in town.”
“Elden Ring” is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC.
