Mike Huckabee Sparks Outrage After Tweeting He ‘Identifies’ as Chinese

The 65-year-old Fox News contributor made the controversial post on his Twitter on April 3.

“I’ve decided to ‘identify’ as Chinese,” he said, adding, “Coke will like me, Delta will agree with my ‘values’ and I’ll probably get shoes from Nike & tickets to @MLB games. Ain’t America great?”

Many social media users criticized Huckabee for his comment, including evangelist Beth Moore, retired FBI Assistant Director Frank Figliuzzi, actress/activist Patricia Arquette and Long Beach City Mayor Robert Garcia.

Huckabee’s tweet was intended to call out the companies that came forward to express their dissatisfaction with Georgia’s newly passed bill that makes it more difficult to vote via absentee ballot, Esquire reported.

Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastian criticized the new election reform bill in a lengthy statement saying in part, “I need to make it crystal clear that the final bill is unacceptable and does not match Delta’s values.”

Coca-Cola released a statement that the company’s focus now is on “supporting federal legislation that protects voting access and addresses voter suppression across the country.”

Huckabee has since responded to some of the backlash.
