Korean American musician Michelle Zauner took to social media on Monday after finding out that BTS’ Jungkook purchased a copy of her 2021 memoir, “Crying in H Mart.”
The reveal: While the K-pop star was chatting with fans during a Weverse Live earlier this week, he shared that he had bought a copy of Zauner’s book and even showed it to the camera.
Zauner reacts: The founder of indie pop band Japanese Breakfast reacted to the news via an Instagram Story, writing, “Excuse me Jung Kook has bought a copy of Crying in H Mart!!!!!”
About “Crying in H Mart”: Zauner’s bestselling memoir explores “family, food, grief, and endurance” as the musician recounts “growing up the only Asian-American kid at her school in Eugene, Oregon… [and] struggling with her mother’s particular, high expectations of her,” the book’s official summary states.
The forthcoming film adaptation of “Crying in H Mart,” which is currently in development, will be directed by “The White Lotus” star Will Sharpe.
