Michelle Yeoh is Officially Getting Her Own ‘Star Trek’ Spin-Off

The confirmation came out after “Crazy Rich Asians,” the film in which Yeoh plays strict mother Eleanor Young, won the Best Comedy category at the Critics’ Choice Awards, according to Deadline.
The “Star Trek” spin-off will reportedly focus on the continuation of Yeoh’s Captain Philippa Georgiou’s journey in “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 2 as part of the Starfleet’s Section 31 division, a secret intelligence agency operating within the Federation.
“Michelle has shattered ceilings, broken boundaries, and astonished us with her grace and gravitas for decades,” executive producer Alex Kurtzman said. “As a human, I adore her. As an actor, I revere her.”
“Erika and Boey are remarkable, exciting writers who bring a fresh perspective to the world of Star Trek, and we’re all thrilled to explore the next wild chapter in the life of Captain Philippa Georgiou,” he added.

The untitled “Star Trek” spin-off is set to be co-produced by Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt.
