Marvel is Looking for an Openly Gay Asian Male Lead for ‘The Eternals’

Marvel Studios is reportedly on the hunt for an openly gay Asian male lead for its upcoming film “The Eternals.”
That Hashtag Show reports that the role is purportedly for a character described as “intellectual, emotional, and has a strong sense of family.”
According to the report, Conrad Ricamora, who plays Oliver Hampton on the series “How to Get Away with Murder,” is being considered for the spot.
“The Eternals” film, which focuses on a group of super-powered ancient beings, will be based on the characters created by the legendary Jack Kirby in 1976.
While the actual identity of the gay Eternals character is being kept under wraps, the character is set to have a major presence in the film alongside the other leads, which are expected to be Sersi, Ikaris, and Piper.
It was announced earlier that actor Kumail Nanjiani had been cast as one of the leads of the film, along with superstar Angelina Jolie as Sersi.
South Korean actor Ma Dong-Seok is also reportedly joining the highly anticipated film, although Marvel has yet to confirm this.
“The Eternals” is one of two Marvel movies that will start filming this year along with “Black Widow,” which stars Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz.
Expected to be released in theaters in 2020, “The Eternals” will be helmed by talented filmmaker Chloé Zhao using the screenplay written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.
