Margot Robbie ate kimchi to prepare for ‘Barbie’ role

Margot Robbie ate fermented foods such as kimchi to help her prepare for her starring role in “Barbie.”
A customized regimen: Renowned skincare expert Jasmina Vico, who collaborated closely with the “Barbie” cast, shared in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar that she prepared a comprehensive regimen for the 33-year-old Australian actor which involved a customized line of supplements, dietary adjustments and specialized skin treatments.
Robbie, who is now a loyal client of Vico’s, notably supplemented her diet with a variety of fermented foods, including kimchi.
“Margot was also eating fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, and kefir, all kinds of bitter foods, and berries,” Viso explained, noting that it was all to do with “promoting the healing and reducing the stress in the body.”
Kimchi’s benefits: Kimchi is known to contain lactobacillus, a type of bacteria that cultivates a harmonious bacterial equilibrium in the gut. Previous research has suggested that maintaining gut health may be pivotal to achieving a radiant complexion, as disturbances in the gut’s balance have been linked to skin issues such as acne.
A groundbreaking study conducted in 2015 also uncovered kimchi’s moisture-retaining properties. Subjects who incorporated kimchi bacteria into their daily diets for a mere four weeks exhibited heightened levels of hyaluronic acid, providing a natural boost in skin hydration.
Beyond diet: Vico emphasized that the regimen she gave the “Barbie” cast went beyond external products because it “didn’t make any sense for me just to treat the skin! Skin is connected to your body; you’ve got to include the diet and lifestyle.”
“Most of them [the cast] were never really aware of the gut-skin axis,” she continued. “Most of the time when they have a skin treatment it would just be for their face and that would be it.”
