Man wanted for violent, racist attack on Asian man and woman in NYC
The New York Police Department (NYPD) is searching for a man who allegedly spewed anti-Asian remarks before physically attacking an Asian man and woman in Midtown Manhattan.
What happened: The 39-year-old victims were about to enter an Uber when the suspect approached them and made racist remarks in front of 23 West 32nd Street at around 1:30 a.m. on May 23, police said.
According to reports, the suspect allegedly spat at the woman and pushed the man to the ground. He then kicked the man several times in the leg before escaping the scene as witnesses tried to intervene.
Ongoing investigation: The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is currently investigating the incident as a hate crime assault.
