Watch: Man braves narrow street drain to save kittens during heavy rain in Malaysia

A Malaysian man is being called a hero for submerging his entire body in dirty rainwater to save a couple of trapped kittens.
What happened: The brave act was filmed and later shared by Noreenrizan, the owner of pet supply store Kittycat Grocery in Subang Jaya, Malaysia, on TikTok last week.
A fire and rescue team was reportedly called after someone spotted the kittens under a street drain grate. However, the owner of the store where the drain is located did not allow them to break the grate. The drain started filling up once it began raining.
Patrick Yee, who is known locally as “Uncle Cat,” came to the rescue and went inside the drain to successfully save the kittens. The drain was filled with “rubbish, worms, [and] rats,” Noreenrizan wrote in a TikTok post description.
The kittens were eventually cleaned up and put up for adoption.
About the hero: Yee is a regular customer of Kittycat Grocery and reportedly buys cat food from the store every morning to give to stray cats in the area. Noreenrizan shared that Yee is her only customer who specifically buys cat food to feed the local strays.
A touching story: Several TikTok users called the man a hero for saving the kittens, with one user writing, “I believe there are still kind humans out there.”
“Thank you uncle. You are so kindhearted,” another user commented.
