Man With Cleaver Kills 2, Injures 9 in Rampage at a Walmart in China

A cleaver-wielding man in Shenzhen, China recently went on a violent rampage inside a local Walmart outlet leaving two people dead and nine others injured.
Shenzhen police have arrested the 30-year-old suspect, identified only by his surname Jiang, after carrying out the attack on Sunday night at a Walmart store in the Bao’an District.
Accounts revealed that the suspect acted alone when he began attacking shoppers on the second floor between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. local time, reports Daily Mail. All of the victims were immediately sent to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Graphic images of the terrifying incident’s aftermath have been widely shared on Chinese social media.
According to the authorities, Jiang was a migrant worker from Chongqing who had recently become unemployed.
His relatives claimed that the man developed a mental illness and that they have not been in contact with him for a long time, reports Shanghaiist.

However, the police revealed that upon questioning, Jiang seemed to respond with a sound mind.
As the crime is still under investigation, a motive for the attack is still unclear, and the authorities are still looking further into his state of mind.
Since firearms are illegal in China, public attacks such as this one are usually carried out with knives or similar weapons.
