South Korean actor Ma Dong-Seok is reportedly set to join the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe via the upcoming film, “Eternals.”
Also known as Don Lee, the “Train to Busan” star will make his American film debut in the highly anticipated Marvel movie, an insider privy to the project told TheWrap.
One of the most popular and bankable actors in South Korea, Dong-Seok has starred in numerous local hits such as “The Good the Bad the Weird,” “The Outlaws,” “Champion,” and “Unstoppable.”
No additional details have been revealed about the actor’s role and Marvel has yet to confirm the report.
Based on the characters created by the legendary Jack Kirby in 1976, “Eternals” focuses on a group of super-powered ancient beings.
Earlier reports confirmed the casting of Angelina Jolie as the female Eternal known as Sersi. “Big Sick” star Kumail Nanjiani is also in talks to be involved in the film.
“Rider” director Chloe Zhao has been tapped to helm the script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.
“Eternals” is one of two Marvel movies that will start filming this year along with “Black Widow,” which stars Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz.
Marvel’s Kevin Feige, who is producing the film, told Collider that the studio plans to introduce the Eternals as a full ensemble as they did with “Guardians of the Galaxy.” He further noted that they will delve more into what made Kirby’s run of the comics in the 1970’s so complex.
