Eleven members of the 12-member K-pop girl group Loona have tested positive for COVID-19.
The news was announced in a statement released by the group’s label, Blockberry Creative, on March 1
In a series of PCR tests conducted Feb. 25, members HaSeul, Yeojin and ViVi tested positive.
Three days later, it was confirmed that another six members — HeeJin, Kim Lip, JinSoul, Choerry, Yves, Chuu, Go Won and Olivia Hye — were also positive, speaking to how highly contagious the virus and its Omicron variant remains.
As of March 1, only HyunJin remains negative for COVID-19.
Due to the positive test results, the group will not be participating in Mnet’s “Queendom 2,” a program in which girl groups battle to determine which one of them is most popular.
Other K-pop groups, including Apink, The Boyz and Victon have all recently reported having members test positive as well.
